Borovets

Borovets is the largest Bulgarian ski resort. It is located in the northern slopes of Rila Mountains, at an altitude of 1300 m above sea level. The resort is only 75 km away from Sofia and 125 away from Plovdiv. The fame of the resort dates back from 1899 when Prince Ferdinand of Bulgaria built a few palaces and hunting lodges. Today, thanks to its healthy climate and beautiful scenery, Borovets is one of the most popular mountain resorts much visited both in winter and summer. The ski season starts at the end of November and ends in mid-May. The ski runs are situated at an altitude of 1300-2600 m above sea level.
