Koprivshtitsa

Koprivshtitsa is one of the most fascinating Bulgarian towns combining unique history and charming present. The small river meandering through the town like a silver snake, the cobbled streets, the bright-coloured houses with traditional architecture from the 18-19 centuries – the period of Bulgarian Renaissance, the numeours monuments dedicated to the glorious past of the town, make it the sup place for the supreme escape from the present. A walk along the streets of Koprivshtitsa is like a journey in the past. The locals take pride in the traditions preserved throughout the centuries. In the numerous period houses (18-19 centuries) open to visitors there are rich displays of ethnographic treasures – household weaves, embroidery, national costumes, jewellery, old weapons, works of art. Bulgaria’s largest Folklore Festival is held in Koprivshtitsa once in five years.
