Kovachevitsa
The village of Kovachevitsa is located in the heart of the wild Rhodopa Mountains overlooking a far valley. The village was settled about 300 years ago by people from Veliko Turnovo. The 2-3 storey houses are exquisitely crafted of huge timbers and stones. Roofs are overlapping thick stone plates. An average roof weighs 10-20 tons. A large part of the square footage of each house is devoted to open air porches and verandahs. |
