Melnik
Melnik is Bulgaria’s tiniest town surrounded by a wall of mountains. A thriving town in end of 19 century with over 20000 inhabitants, 75 churches, horses and camels laden with wine, today the population of barely 300 people make their living on tourism and wine making. The main square is lined with taverns, whitewashed stone houses on timber props festooned with flowers and vines overhanging cobbled alleys and narrow courtyards. Ruins outnumber the inhabited houses here. |
