Perperikon
 Perperikon is considered to be the ancient and mysterious capital of the Odryssae kingdom. The Palace, the Fortress and especially the religious sites were of great importance not only for the Thracians, but for the whole ancient world of Greeks, Persians and Macedonians. The Byzantines, the Latins and finally the Bulgarians further developed the important strategic site. Huge water basins, once used for by the fortress’s defenders, have been unearthed. A golden seal has been discovered in Perperikon – supposedly the seal of the Bulgarian king Ivan-Alexander. |
