Pirin Mountains
 Pirin Mountains are the most beautiful and the wildest in Bulgaria. It is the second highest mountain range after the Rila Mountains. Its highest peak Vihren rises up to 2915 m above sea level. The mountains have typical Alpine relief – rocky peaks and screes, deep cirques, well-shaped glacier valleys and numerous lakes, which can only be compared to the Swiss Alps. Trekking in Pirin can be challenging and invigorating. Well-marked trails run in all directions and can be hiked in the course of one to ten hours depending on the route. |
